Prayer Of Confession
(Isaiah 61-62, Galatians 4, Luke 2)
Lord of Christmas peace, we have tarnished the gift You gave freely.
We have not followed Christ; we have lived lives of apathy against Your love,
we have lived a busy life without room for our Savior and His peace.
Forgive us, we pray. Free us from our sin. Free us to a life lived in joy through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You are the King whom we have come to adore.
Amen.
Words Of Assurance
(Isaiah 61-62, Galatians 4)
L: Rejoice, sisters and brothers! Christ has clothed us with the garment of salvation.
C: We are covered with robes of righteousness.
L: We are adopted as children and heirs of God.
C: Christ is born is our lives. God’s love is with us now! Amen.

*Scripture
Isaiah 63:7-9, Luke 2:11-19 (NIV)
7 I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised,
according to all the Lord has done for us - yes, the many good things he has done for Israel,
according to his compassion and many kindnesses.
8 He said, “Surely they are my people, children who will be true to me”;
and so he became their Savior.
9 In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them.
In his love and mercy he redeemed them;
he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another,
“Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,
18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

*Wesleyan Covenant Prayer
I am no longer my own, but Yours.
Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will;
put me to doing, put me to suffering;
let me be employed for You, or laid aside for You,
exalted for You, or brought low for You;
let me be full, let me be empty,
let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am Yours. So be it.
And the covenant now made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
