Call To Worship
Liturgist: Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
All: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
L: And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
All: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
L: And the living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
Invocation Prayer
Most gracious God, hallowed be Your name, help us to honor Your name in what we say and what we do, this hour in our worship, and in coming days. All honor, the kingdom, power and glory belong to You. May Your gracious presence surround us this day, so that obedience to Your Word becomes a joy rather than a burden. May the depth of Your grace, the width of Your love, the height of Your joy, inspire us, here and now, to more fully be Your people. We look to You for this, God, because, on our own, we are tempted to be just the opposite. Empower us with Your Spirit, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Chronicles 29:10-13 (NIV)
10 David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you, Lord, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.
11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.
13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

Prayer Of Confession
God of infinite patience and love, we come to You this day, having just gone through the season of greed. We embark on this Lenten journey not sure if we want to make the spiritual trip. It is easy for us to get caught up in our own needs and our own anxieties. We are a people of great want, and we need to become a people of great faith. Stop us and remove us from the self-destructive journey on which we were living. Place us on Your track of hope and salvation. Forgive our stubbornness, and heal our sorrowful souls. For we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
