Call To Worship
Liturgist: Like the people of Ezekiel’s day, we have grown apart from God.
Congregation: We want what we want, ignoring God’s desires for us.
L: We have made our dreams and our desires more important to us than God.
C: We have drifted away from the faith of our forebears. And now we wander blindly in a valley of dry, dusty bones, seeking refreshment for our thirsting souls.
L: Answer the deep longing of our hearts with the fullness of Your love, so that once again we will know the sufficiency of life with You.
C: Let the fire of the Holy Spirit rest on us, as it did on the faithful at Pentecost. Touch us, Lord, set our souls on fire with a burning that cannot be quenched.
Unison Prayer
Lord, we are here, together in this place, just as your followers gathered together on the day of Pentecost. Send the rushing wind to fill this place, blow away our transgressions and set our souls on fire for You. Do it again, Lord, just like You did in the valley of dry bones. Do it again, Lord! We know that You can revive us. We believe that You can make us new. We believe, Lord. Help our unbelief. Amen.

Acts 2:14-21 (NIV)
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!
16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

Prayer Of Confession
God of infinite patience and love, we come to You this day, having just gone through the season of greed. We embark on this Lenten journey not sure if we want to make the spiritual trip. It is easy for us to get caught up in our own needs and our own anxieties. We are a people of great want, and we need to become a people of great faith. Stop us and remove us from the self-destructive journey on which we were living. Place us on Your track of hope and salvation. Forgive our stubbornness, and heal our sorrowful souls. For we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
